A Matisse Range of Mediums and Products At the September members’ meeting at the Diddy, Steven Patterson, the owner of Matisse, and his son David gave a fantastic presentation. They focused on the range of Matisse mediums and products rather than the Matisse colour range.

Steven came prepared with a table full of products, neatly organized by type and purpose. He took us through an easy-to-understand explanation of how acrylic paints work—their application and drying process. This really helped us see the differences between products that might look similar at first glance. Plus, Steven had pre-made sample boards that showed off the visual effects of each product, making it all much clearer.

Steven’s demonstration sparked a lot of questions from the audience, and afterward, everyone had a chance to chat directly with Steven and David about the products and to handle the bottles and jars.

To top it off, Steven gave each member a handy booklet that listed and described each product, along with their uses. Now, when we visit an art supply store and see that wall of mediums, we’ll feel a lot more confident in choosing the right ones!
