PRESIDENT’S REPORT

AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2021

Hi All,

Life has been very challenging for a lot of people in the past few months and it so good to hear that finally there is light at the end of the tunnel.

We have a few opportunities to look forward to with restrictions being eased by the middle of next month.

There has been a lot going on as far as the Art Society is concerned in the past few months.

I have been amazed by the fabulous response that we have received from artists all over Sydney and even further, to regional NSW, to our call out for contributions to 12 x10, our charity art sale.

A lot of the feedback from artists has been that it is so good to have a project during lockdown and for such a worthy cause, as so many exhibitions have been cancelled. We have ,so far, in the vicinity of 450 works with still more requests coming in for panels. If you are contemplating contributing there is still time, as the cut off date for delivery of works is October 23rd. For artists it is an opportunity for their work to be viewed by a much larger audience. Their work will also be promoted on social media before the event, anonymously, and after we will be pairing the works with the artists.

The next step is to get the word out there for people to come and buy the artworks, the sale being the 30th and 31st October. So please help by spreading the word amongst friends, colleagues and neighbours.

Linda Gleeson has been doing an amazing job on social media and our followers have increased enormously on Instagram and Facebook, plus we have received quite a few enquiries regarding membership, which is all very encouraging.

Finally, after many months and a lot of very time consuming work by Kerry Luxton, Stage 1 of our new website will be launched at the beginning of October. Stage 2, will be completed before the end of this year. The second stage will include processing membership applications and renewals and exhibition entry fees online. That will relieve a great deal of work for committee members in March at renewal time ,and at Exhibition times. There will still be the opportunity for those who wish to pay by cheque and support with entry submissions etc for those that are not able to do it online.

I am so looking forward to our next meeting and demonstration which hopefully will be 26th October, restrictions permitting.
