HOW TO ENTER

  • Entry forms must be completed online via the Lane Cove Art Society website.
  • A maximum of two artworks can be submitted by a single entrant. A separate entry form must be completed for each artwork. Each unit of a pair is regarded as a separate entry.
  • Please complete one entry form online for each artwork. You will receive email confirmation of your online entries. The entry will not be accepted until payment has been made.
  • Artists are required to upload a high-quality image of each artwork in JPEG or PNG format and not more than 10MB.
  • The closing date for entries is Friday 4 August, 5pm. Late entries will not be accepted.
  • All details supplied by the artist are final.

ARTWORK ELIGIBILITY

  • Artwork must be original work, completed within the last year. Work previously submitted to the Lane Cove Art Award is not eligible.
  • Eligible two-dimensional artwork can be any of the following mediums: painting, drawing and mixed media. The maximum size for the work allowed, including the frame, is 155cm x 155cm (height x width). Please note that works larger than this will not be accepted.
  • We are unable to accept film, video, sound, performance and installation artwork and photo media.
  • No reproductions or copies.
  • No paintings on glass, photo-reproductions, computer-assisted works, Giclee prints, or
    3-dimensional works will be accepted. No wet paint.

ENTRANT ELIGIBILITY

  • Entrants must be ages 18 years and over.
  • All finalists are eligible for the Main Prize and the Second Prize.
  • A maximum of two artworks can be submitted by a single entrant. A separate entry form must be completed for each artwork. Each unit of a pair is regarded as a separate entry.
  • Handling fee is $40 per artwork (Lane Cove Art Society Members $30 per artwork). Entries will only be accepted via Lane Cove Art Society Website and the deadline is Friday 4th August, 5pm. Late entries will not be accepted.

SALE OF ARTWORK

  • All finalists’ artworks must be available for sale.
  • It is the personal responsibility of the winning artists, other than hobbyists, to send the appropriate contribution to the Australian Tax Office.
  • If the artwork is sold, Lane Cove Art Society will deduct 30% commission from the artist’s sale price, which will be the amount for payment via invoice. You will be contacted by Lane Cove Art Society, payment will be processed after the exhibition has closed.
  • The Main Prize-winning work will be acquired by Lane Cove Council for the prize money only.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF FINALISTS AND WINNERS

  • All entries will be viewed online by the Judges. The Judges’ decisions are final; no refunds are available for works not selected.
  • Finalists will be announced on the Lane Cove Art Society website and all entrants will be emailed the announcement.
  • The winner of the Lane Cove Art Award and the Second Prize will be announced on 25th August on the Opening Night. The Judge will also select works of merit.

MARKETING & PUBLICITY

  • Lane Cove Council and Lane Cove Art Society will use images of your artwork to promote the exhibition and future exhibitions in signage, websites, social media, catalogues and promotional material.

INFORMATION FOR FINALISTS

  • If your artwork is selected for the exhibition, you are responsible for organising the delivery and collection of your artwork at your own cost.
  • Delivery of artworks will be to the Gallery Lane Cove on Monday 21st August 12-5:30pm.
  • Works not collected by 5pm on Sunday 10th September will be charged a Late Pickup Fee of $40 per work per day. Uncollected works will be disposed of at the discretion of the committee after 30 days.
  • The LCAS is unable to accept or return paintings by postal delivery.
  • Exhibitors are responsible for their own insurance of works. All reasonable care will be taken but no responsibility is accepted for loss or damage while in custody or transit, or for works not collected by Sunday 10th September 2023.
  • Artwork chosen for the exhibition should be professionally presented and ready to hang. Works cannot be wet, damaged, or exceed the dimensions noted previously.

INFORMATION FOR FINALISTS CONTINUED

  • Artwork must be ready for hanging using D-rings or synthetic cord if appropriate. All screws must be covered. Painting or canvases with screw eyes or bare wire will not be accepted. Any artwork deemed unsuitable may be rejected at the discretion of the committee.
  • Firmly attach the label provided (see below) to the top right-hand back of the painting. The details on the label must be exactly the same as that on the entry form.
